Nature notes

Still the odd Raspberry; a few Orange Hawkweeds going and other flowers to past mid month.
Plenty of flowering and fresh growth (inc grass which is now too wet to cut!) mid month still. A spectacular display of Autumn colours this year. Plenty of insects feeding on the Ivy flowers.

15th - 20th last of the mild weather encouraged song from Wrens, Song Thrush and a Blackbird. Tortoishell butterfly chancing on coming into the house but then trying to escape, I put it in the cool utility room where it stands a better chance of hibernating the winter (most of them tend to die however).

Tue 23rd Lampeter, in spite of sharp frosts of late various flowers still ongoing, one Cherry tree blooming in the shelter of the Old Building near the Magnolia that had swollen buds (this has happened before in mild Novembers only for subsequent frosts to kill them off during Winter). Also the hedgerow along the steep road adjacent The Bryn having many shrubs with fresh leafing inc Hawthorn and Bramble.

A Hoopoe visited Ceredigion this month near Tregaron and also a Swallow was spotted (other peoples obs).
