Nature notes

Fri 5th Tregaron Bog pair of Pied Flycatcher which hardly ever see around the area, disappointingly no Cuckoo heard.

Sat 5th first Foxglove flower Neuadd lane.

Shade Bluebells lasting well into June (unusual).

Oak & Ash belatedly attaining full leaf early month

Mon 7th Llanybydder Swifts at Wilsons warehouse (former mill)/ old train station (10-12 combined) and Rhydybont chapel (5 or 6) but none seen at Aberdduar chapel (only there 10 minutes).

Mon 7th forestry above Llanybydder, parked at main entrance for a change as late, Cuckoo calling not far away (almost sunset); first Nightjars (2 or 3 heard one seen), some decent churring at one point; still plenty of WW and CC in song.

Sat 12th 4 mile walk along lanes and tracks about Mynydd Pencarreg: 1 possibly 2 Cuckoo heard, Stonechats, Wheatear?, lots of Skylark and Meadow Pipit, CC & WW; still fresh well- shaded Bluebells in number; Laburnums beautiful caught them just right!

Sun 13th good showing of the village Swifts this evening much chasing and screaming by 15+ birds..

Fri 18th forestry cuckoo seen and calling quite a lot from close (within 100m), this is quite late now to hear one; plenty of bird song still; plenty of Foxglove out.
