Nature notes

Sat 4th Lampeter Uni pm, Kingfisher flashed by within 10 feet by the stream; 50 plus H Martin & Swallow seems like they had a good year! Also a Chiffchaff singing a bit...

Further Chiffchaffs heard  in the Uni and also from the garden (9th) early in the month...

Still some Swallows around mid month and a few House Martins..

Wed 15th: Nolton Haven, Pembs, Chiffchaff singing well from adjacent scrub and woodland along with plentiful Robin; 10- 15 Swallow above the lanes as we headed home early evening.

Mid month sounds: Starling singing one afternoon from next door aerial, Chiffchaff snatches still being heard, Great Tit 'teacher' calling, possible snatch of a Wren, as well as numerous Robins that will keep up until into New Year.

Mon 20th still some H Martins & Swallows active in Lampeter..

Late flush of Raspberries in the garden hedgerows (not had this happen before they are usually all over by August).

Thu 23rd female Sparrowhawk alighted on the patio bench observed for 2 minutes (it was watching for birds on the adjacent feeders) at just 3 metres distance as I sat by the window (best ever view of a BOP!).

Sun 26th several Swallows Llangrannog and Aberaeron; Starlings feeding in the harbour mud low tide with others singing from tops of boat masts!
