1st exceptionally mild New Year's Day, both minimum (11.5c) and maximum (13.9c) being January records here (previous records 11.3c Jan 2008 and 13.0c in 2016). Of note was that the maximum occurred during the early hours. It was a mostly cloudy and windy day with light rain and drizzle.
2nd - 10th unsettled; mostly cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain; distant thunder heard midday 3rd, sleet observed 6th & 7th, 17.9mm rain 7th wettest day of the month; temperatures rather variable between mild and rather cold (max range 4 – 10c). Rather windy at times.
11th - 14th became dry with sunny periods. Sharp frost, mist and fog overnights (lingered well into the morning 13th). Maxima mostly near average. Pressure reached 1043mbar 12th highest of the month. A notably calm spell, nothing above 10mph 11th - 15th.
15th - 16th Cloudy with some slight frost and fog and occasional drizzle. Maxima near average.
17th - 20th mostly dry and sunny at times; unbroken 8 hours of bright sun 17th the most possible in January; there were spells of rain on the morning of 19th which was also a rather windy day; frosts overnight with temperatures by day continuing around normal January levels.
21st – 25th hard frost overnight 20th/ 21st, min -5.8c lowest reading of the month; dry, cloudy and often rather cold, max 3.6c 24th lowest of the month.

7th - 15th dry with sunny periods; temperatures between average and hot (ranging from max 28.4c 11th to 19.4c 13th); 12th being the only rather cloudy day during this spell.
16th - 19th hot/ very hot with sunny periods; this spell saw record breaking heat 18th (max 34.8c) beating 33.6c (July 2006); also the greatest diurnal range (26.1c) after the refreshingly cool 8.7c start. 19th min 17.6c equal second warmest night here (17.8c July 2014); thunder and close forked lightning around 1330 BST 19th although just 0.1mm rain fell.

Best August since and on par with 2003 after many mediocre/ poor Augusts since we came here in 2005. The 1990's saw 3 very warm Augusts in contrast (1990, 1995 &1997).
Rare August heatwave with 3 successive days above 31c.
Mean max to mid month 25c.
Total rainfall 21.2mm (19% of Falc and 21% of 2006-22 here) = the driest August recorded here beating 2011 (57.8mm), although Ciliau Aeron nearer the coast where we previously lived had just 15.5mm in August 2003.
Total estimated sun 207 hours = easily the sunniest August since estimations began 2013 (previous highest a mere 159 hours in 2014). Sunniest since at least August 2003 (205 hours Aberporth) and probably since 1995.
More sun first fortnight than any whole August for the run of dull months 2015 -2021 and with 92 hours sun week 8th - 13th - this being more than in the whole of the dullest August 2020 (est 85 hours).
1st - 3rd occasional light rain or drizzle along with some sunny intervals (cloudy 2nd); average to warm temperatures,
4th - 6th dry and sunny but breezy; rather cool but up to average by 6th after a cold night close to a grass frost (min 2.3c the lowest reading of the month).
7th - 14th dry with virtually unbroken sunshine, turned into a heatwave (above 25c 9th – 14th); very hot from 10th with 11th - 14th all above 30c and thus all beating the previous August record (a mere 28.3c in August 2018); 12th being hottest max 32.7c - itself third highest recorded here for any month. Hardly a cloud in the sky throughout this period with all days 12 to 14 hours sunshine. Nights however for the most part refreshingly cool (min 3c – 8c 7th – 11th).
15th warm and humid but rather cloudy, much thunder heard early evening from active storms in the Abergorllech/ Pumsaint areas 8 to 10 miles SE of here.
